1/21 Sunday school. We had 8 beautiful children that explored church & mission together. We played games from around the world, had a demonstration lesson on mission, explored our Bibles, made a craft and did Bible trivia. We have so much fun each week that we consistently run out of time long before the kids and grown ups are ready to leave class.

The Arizona Masterworks Chorale will perform in our Sanctuary this evening at 7:30 p.m. The Chorale will feature music of John Rutter, including his vibrant and energetic Gloria!, for choir and organ. Rutter is a British composer thought by many to be the premiere living composer of choral music. The concert will be "all-Rutter" and will include both sacred and secular pieces. Among them will his Fancies, a cycle of six choral settings created around whimsical themes and based on poetry texts of Shakespeare, Thomas Campion, Edward Lear, and others. Muriel Stone Johnson, flute, and Kent Trostel, piano, will also offer Suite Antique with musical references to the style and form of Bach. Tickets are $15; Children 12 and under, Free. Tickets will be available at the door. For nearly 35 years, The Arizona Masterworks Chorale has thrilled audiences with the beauty and joy of choral masterworks. In London, Munich, Carnegie Hall, Washington, DC and Valley-wide, they have been recognized for both the quality of their performances and the breadth of their presentations. The Chorale was affiliated with the Phoenix Symphony from 1979 to 1996 and for ten seasons performed with the Flagstaff Festival of the Arts Orchestra. Other significant venues have included the BBC Concert Orchestra at Royal Festival Hall and the Bavarian State Radio Orchestra in Munich, both concerts broadcast throughout Europe. On three occasions, the Chorale has performed in New York City’s Carnegie Hall at the invitation of New York Pops’ founder and musical director, Skitch Henderson. One special performance was at the celebration commemorating Carnegie Hall’s 100th anniversary. In 2004, the Chorale was proud to represent the State of Arizona at the Dedication of the World War II Memorial in Washington, DC, and in 2006, the group traveled to Prague, Krakow, and Vienna in celebration of the 250th anniversary of Mozart’s birth.
